The HRB Diabetes Collaborative Clinical Trial Network is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Newman as the Lead Clinical Researcher. Dr. Christine Newman is currently working as a clinical fellow in Diabetes Technology and Endocrinology in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. As Lead Clinical Researcher for the Clinical Trial Network, Christine will lead the networks research prioritisation setting process in conjunction with James Lind Alliance. Christine previously held posts as a consultant endocrinologist in Galway University Hospital and clinical lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Galway. she entered speciality training in Diabetes and endocrinology in 2016 before completing her MD in diabetes in pregnancy in 2022. She obtained postgraduate qualifications from the The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and she has a Speciality Certificate in Endocrinology and Diabetes from the Society of Endocrinology. In addition, she recently completed the EASD Robert Turner Clinical Research training program. Dr Newman’s research interests are currently focused on diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, thyroid disease, and calcium metabolism. She is engaged in medical education teaching undergraduate endocrinology through both didactic lectures, small group tutorials and via simulation-based education.
