The HRB Diabetes Collaborative Clinical Trial Network (DC CTN) congratulates Prof. Fidelma Dunne on her appointment to the newly established Clinical Trials Advisory Council (CTAC) by the Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD.
The establishment of CTAC represents an important step forward for Ireland’s clinical trials landscape. The Council brings together patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, academia, industry, regulators and Government to support the development of a more agile, innovative and patient-centred clinical trials environment in Ireland. Ireland’s vision for transforming its clinical research environment is outlined in Transforming Ireland’s Clinical Trials Landscape: A Blueprint for Implementation, published by the Department of Health.
Reflecting on her appointment, Prof. Dunne said:
“I am particularly pleased to join a Council that brings together patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, academia, industry, regulators and Government. By working together, we can build a more agile, patient-centred and innovative clinical trials environment in Ireland, creating greater opportunities for patients to access innovative treatments and delivering meaningful improvements for patients, researchers and the wider health system.”
