Dr Lindsay is a consultant physician in diabetes and endocrinology based at the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. He graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1996 before undertaking postgraduate training and diabetes research in Belfast and later at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

John is an honorary clinical lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. His research interests include the role of glycated peptides and incretin hormones in type 2 diabetes, clinical management of Cushing’s syndrome and more recently in metabolic bone disease. He has an active interest in quality improvement and is a recent graduate of the Scottish Improvement Leader Programme.

John is co-lead of the Northern Ireland Diabetes Clinical Research Network (NICRN). The NICRN provides infrastructure that allows high-quality clinical research to take place across all health and social care structures, so that patients can benefit from new and better treatments. The Network provides skilled health professionals who can help researchers to set up and run clinical studies quickly and effectively and work with patients and the public to ensure their needs are at the centre of research activity.
