Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Nick Oliver and I am the Wynn Professor metabolism at Imperial College and I lead an innovative, and successful group with active research in diabetes technology areas including glucose control using closed loop systems (artificial pancreas), non- or minimally- invasive glucose sensing, IT-driven diabetes care and diabetes prevention. I am a consultant in the type 1 diabetes and diabetes technology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the largest hospital groups in the UK. Imperial is a Centre of Excellence for type 1 diabetes care and has established insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring services, as well as supporting pancreas and islet transplantation.
